Character Sketcher example for Charlie Bucket, Section 1

1) polite - page 5, paragraph 3
"How d'you do?" is a considerate and thoughtful question to ask.  He was not rude or disdainful.

2)disciplined - page 8, paragraph 3-page 9, paragraph 1
This paragraph described how much Charlie treasured his birthday chocolate.  Instead of devouring his treat, he nibbles away at it, disciplining himself to make the chocolate last.

3)lovable - page 11, paragraph 1
This paragraph describes how much Charlie is truly loved by his grandparents.  "Their old wrinkled faces would light up with smiles of pleasure."

Character Goal:  Charlie Bucket's goal is to be able to enjoy the sweet, delicious joy of chocolate more than once each year.

Problem:  Charlie Bucket's problem is that his family is very poor, so they can only afford to buy a chocolate bar for him once a year on his birthday.

Solution:  Charlie Bucket eats his bar of birthday chocolate very, very, very slowly so that he can enjoy it for almost one month after his birthday.
